Courtenay calling BCWF
The countdown is on before British Columbian Wildlife Federation delegates from around BC will arrive in Courtenay for the 56th annual BC Wildlife Federation annual general meeting and convention.
The theme for the event at the Best Western Plus Westerly Hotel and Convention Centre is A Land Fit for Wildlife is a Land Fit for People and will focus on the value of managing our fish, wildlife and habitat for healthy current and future generations of fish and wildlife and people. Business sessions will include a wide range of conservation issues and establishment of policies, educational seminars with keynote speakers, resolutions and elections. There is a youth program for the youth delegates and special activities for the spouses of delegates.
The BCWF is a volunteer-driven conservation organization that consists of more than 100 clubs in B.C. representing in excess of 38,000 members.
The Courtenay and District Fish and Game Protective Association is one of the largest member clubs in the BCWF with over 2,000 members. Courtenay and District Fish and Game is celebrating their 75th anniversary in 2012 and on that occasion decided to host the convention and bring the event to the Comox Valley.
A conservation fundraiser will be held at the Comox Valley Sports Centre on April 27. Tickets are $30 each or a table for eight for $240. Tickets are available at Tyee Marine, Gone Fishin, or call Greg at 250-338-7676.
