NIDES announces new academy programs
Two unique education programs will be launched in September 2012.
Using a blended model of classroom-based instruction and distributed learning, the Fine Arts eCademy and ENTER (eCademy of New Technology, Engineering and Robotics) are designed with the future in mind. Together both NIDES (North Island Distance Education School) and School District 71 are behind the initiatives.
The Fine Arts eCademy is a K-9 program emphasizing the visual, performing and music arts, as well as supporting a unique approach to curriculum integration and global studies. Classes will be held at the Tsolum Campus, and enrolment will be limited to between 100 and 140 students.
ENTER is a program for grades 6-8 students who thrive on learning through a hands-on, practical environment. It is centered on explorations in engineering, science and robotics.
Parents, students and community members interested in learning more about either of these programs is invited to attend any one of the upcoming Community Information Nights: Jan. 16, 6-8 p.m. NIDES Tsolum Campus and Jan. 26, 6-8 p.m. Mark R. Isfeld Secondary
