The Gold River Futures Society in partnership with BC Hydro will “beautify” the Hydro boxes throughout Gold River.

“Our community is a beautiful place to live as well as visit and having all our utility wires underground enhances the photographic options of the scenery of the village,” said Sheila Bugar, project supervisor. “Currently, we’re working on enhancing our green spaces and have an ongoing streetscape program to further enhance the beauty of the village so residents and visitors of the community can take in the natural surroundings.”

This contest is one part of this ongoing beautification project.

“We will be starting with four or five large boxes that are central in the community and in need of much uplifting,” Bugar said. “We will be ‘wrapping’ these boxes which is a method in which we would take a photograph, have it enlarged and wrap it around the box.

“We are accepting photographs of anything you may think would be appropriate for the boxes that is pertaining to and promoting Gold River. Action shots, sports, scenery, historical, industrial, old photos or new, black and white or colour.

“We are also accepting artwork as we can photograph them and use them as well.”

The winners will have their photo/artwork and their name on the box, as well as a photo taken with the box, framed and displayed in various places around the community.

This contest is open to all ages, residents and past residents of Gold River.
